Adding a picture or a shape and getting it to sit where you actually want is the next skill after plain text.
Insert tab → Pictures, then choose a file. Resize by dragging a corner handle, not an edge handle — a corner keeps the image's proportions, an edge stretches or squashes it.
Controls whether text flows around an image or stops entirely above and below it — found by right-clicking the image → Wrap Text, with options like Square, Tight, and In Line with Text.
Insert tab → SmartArt builds a diagram — a process flow, an org chart, a cycle — by typing text into a list, with the shapes and arrows arranged automatically. Far faster than drawing individual boxes and connecting lines by hand for a simple diagram.
